Ladies and Gentlemen!
The Center for European Studies and the Center for American Studies invite you to participate in the 5th National Conference entitled "LGBTQ+ People and Law, Psychology, and Social Sciences".
When?
The conference will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, between 9:00 and 16:00 online on the Microsoft Teams platform.
The length of the conference depends on the number of speakers. In the event of a large number of applications, we reserve the right to extend the conference to Sunday, May 18, 2025.
What is the conference about?
The main objective of the conference is to discuss LGBTQ+ people in Poland, Europe, and the world - their general situation, condition, and problems - through the prism of social sciences and humanities such as law, psychology, political science, sociology, philosophy, economics, history, and cultural studies.
The aim of the conference is to present a broad perspective on the situation of LGBTQ+ people. We will discuss the history of LGBTQ+, legal regulations and social attitudes that affect LGBTQ+ people, and the attitudes of political groups and politicians towards the LGBTQ+ community.
We will also discuss the problems of the presence of LGBTQ+ people in culture, history and art. We encourage you to submit proposals for addressing the discussed problems and conceptualizing their upcoming solutions.
Proposed (example) thematic areas:
• history of the LGBTQ+ community
• legal discrimination of LGBTQ+ people
• LGBTQ+ people in culture
• pinkwashing in the world and in Poland
• social and family exclusion of sexual minorities
• homophobia in modern societies
• civil partnerships in the law of European countries
• mental disorders among LGBTQ+ people
• LGBTQ+ people and the adoption of children
• LGBTQ+ movement in the USA
• social and psychological aspects of exclusion
• LGBTQ+ and geopolitics
• legal aspects of the functioning of LGBTQ+ people in Poland, Europe and the world
• Polish law and gender recognition issues
• and many more!
The above-mentioned thematic areas are only examples – we strongly encourage you to go beyond them. In addition, the presentations may be interdisciplinary in nature, combining various fields of science.
We believe in the freedom of academic discussion and do not censor presentations for ideological or political reasons. Original and unconventional presentations will always be appreciated by the Scientific Committee.

• We cordially invite students and PhD students, experienced researchers, practitioners, as well as all other people interested in the conference topics to actively participate in the conference.
• Passive participation does not require any scientific qualifications.
